It seems that there is some problems with power saving mode on Intel HD Audio.
Any headphones plugged in - laptop have immidiate power down.
Found suggestion to disable INTEL_AUDIO_POWERSAVE=false at /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/intel-audio-powersave
But this is not very good decision, and i cant say it helps me. In some cases laptop still shuts down.
My laptop is brand new just few days . Dell Vostro 5468 (N017VN5468EMEA01_UGRFB)
Ubuntu 16.04

Hello. Sorry you did not received an answer but it looks like none of us have any ideas about your issue. All I can think of, is to suggest that you post on the Linux board and see if anyone there knows if it is a Linux issue. If not, then contact tech support.
If you do get it sorted out, please let us know.

When plunged in hands-free laptop will turn off.
