Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 Apls touchpad gesture does cannot be disabled

The fact that the touchpad is working erratically can be seen here in many threads.  I cannot add more except this: Just avoid Alps touchpads!  Does not matter whether the problems in in Apls Hardware of in Dell Driver. It is simply unuseable and neither Apls nor Dell will change this.

However this should be addressed by someone at Dell (since practically I'm not able to get in contact with Dell support I put my complaints here):

Control Panel ->Mouse ->Dell Touchpad->[Change Touchpad Settings] ->MultiFinger Gesture-> Uncheck "Enable Flick".

This should have had the effect of have the effect of disabling the "flick" gesture but this gesture is still captured by my touchpad.

I just had the same problem and this worked for me.

Download and install the touchpad driver (R305170):
