Dell Inspiron 17r Special Edition.... max memory question..

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 17r SE with a i7-3630qm and it came with 8gb memory (supposedly has only 2 dim slots)...   What is the max memory this system can hold...  i will have Windows 7 64 or Windows 8 64 installed...     can this system hold at least 16gb ram (8gb per dimm)?
