Dell Inspiron 3520 - the left touchpad button "double clicks"

Hello all - like the title states, when I depress the left button on the touchpad it "single clicks".  When I release pressure from that button there is another "single click".  I have looked at the Mouse settings and I do not see an option for this.  Any suggestions?

Hi 2milehi,

This might be a hardware issue with the touchpad. Try reinstalling the driver from the support site and check if it works.

Sorry, I did this fix two days ago and it took care of the issue.  Thanks for the info.

BTW the http://dell.to/YBlak6 address looks a little suspicious so I was reluctant to click on it.

Hi 2Milehi,

I am having the same problem on a Dell Inspiron 15 3520 using Windows 8 64bit. I had John from Dell connect remotely to first solve the issue I had with the touch pad buttons not working, after I had the problem with the button double clicking when depressed and released. After the buttons/touch pad were replaced, I am still sitting with the same problem with the button double clicking when it's supposed to single click. I am tempted to install the Windows 7 64bit driver in an attempt to resolve this issue. Have anyone been able to resolve this Windows specific problem?

I had success with the above link that installs an older touchpad driver.  Have you tried that?

Hi all,

I have downloaded the Windows 7 driver, uninstalled the Windows 8 driver, installed the Windows 7 driver and performed a reboot. So far all looks OK. I have not had much inclination to use the laptop since this problem was not resolved. I will give it a go and provide feedback later this week.

I'm having the same issues on a dell 17r.  If I install the driver, it clears it for about 2 weeks and then after a week to ten days it starts again.  Anyone got any ideas?
