Dell Inspiron 5521 Waves MaxxAudio driver missing
Hello there, After upgrading to Windows 8.1 i sadly found out that the MaxxAudio software is missing from my computer, is there any way to get it back? I've had it on my PC before the upgrade and i want to use it again.
Thanks in advance,
-Asaf

Hello. MaxxAudio is included in the Realtek audio driver package. Download and install this Realtek audio driver which is for the Inspiron 5521 model with Win 8.1.
If that doesn't work there is no other way -- no separate download for MaxxAudio.

Hi. My computer updated itself from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. I now have no sound and have tried lots of trouble shooting to no avail. Just noticed a sticker that said this is also my sound but it's not listed in my programs. My computer is an Inspiron15(?). Sorry I'm not a techie. Any suggestions? (I wasn't sure if I should try this solution for my computer. Thx.)

You should not use the driver to which I posted a link earlier in this thread. That is not the correct audio driver for an Inspiron 15.
If you need more help please give the model name of your laptop. The models in the Inspiron 15 series are:
(2010) 1564, M5010, M5030, N5010, N5030
(2011) N5040, N5050
(2012) 3520 & 3521
(2013) 3537, 7537
(2014) 3531, 3541, 3542, 5542, 5545, 5547, 7547
(2015) 3543, 3551, 3558, 5543, 5548, 5551, 5555, 5558, 7548, 7558

Hi. Thanks for the info. The receipt says: Intel Core 13-3227U. There is also an ISBN number if the number I listed is incorrect. If neither is correct, is there somewhere I can go on my computer that tells me? I remember doing so in the past, but can't remember how to do it. (I'm clearly far from a techie.)
Thanks.

That is the cpu (processor) in the laptop. The model number should be on the Dell logo screen each time you start up the computer. Another way to find the model is to use the tool at the parts-people.com.

Here is a link to the Realtel 6.0.1.7023 audio driver. It is the only Windows 8.1 version that Dell made available for the Inspiron 15 3521. I hope it has the features that you want.

I ran it. Twice it said it was interrupted, I restarted and it went through the Security Scan. After clicking "yes" to Dell making the changes, it came back "Failed". Any suggestions? Thx.

Please tell me what you see in Device Manager. To open D.M. go to Control Panel and find it in the alphabetical list, or type devmgmt.msc into the Windows search box. After the DM opens, expand the category Sound Video & Game Controllers. Please tell me what is listed in that category.
If you would rather just post a screen shot of it, here is a link to instructions for doing that.

Hello again. I'm sorry that I was not able to reply to you yesterday.
Please go back to Device Manager and right click on Realtek HD Audio. In the context menu that will open, click on Properties, then the tab at the top named Driver. What is the version and the date there?

Okay, that is the correct Realtek audio driver for an Inspiron 3521 with Windows 8.1. I'm sorry that it does not have the extra features you would like to have, but it is what it is.
If you want to try a different Realtek driver I suggest that you get one directly from the Realtek site.
Go to the Realtek downloads selection page. www.realtek.com.tw/downloads
On the page click on "High Definition Audio Codecs".
Check "I accept" and then "next".
In the column named "Description" find the file named README. That has the instructions for installing or updating.
In the column named "Download", click on one of the server names to download the readme file.
Go back to the column named "Description" and select your operating system (and whether it is 32bits or 64bits) from the top 2 choices in the list.
In the column named "Download", click on one of the server names to download the driver.
