Dell Inspiron N7110 display shutoff button not working

Hi all,

I recently had to replace a faulty hard drive on my laptop, and after replacing it I noticed the top right button on the palm rest panel is no longer working.  This is the button that turns off the display without changing what the pc is doing.  It lights up during startup, but doesn't when it's being pressed while the computer is running.  The settings and repair button work.  At least I think the repair button works.  Nothing changes on the screen, but it does light up when being pressed.  I can't remember what this button should do after being pressed...

Does this sound like it would be the obvious and I damaged it when removing the panel?  Or could this possibly be a driver issue or something else?  I've reopened up my laptop to reseat the ribbon connector and nothing has changed.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Brian
