Dell Inspiron i15RV-6143BLK - 3227U- Inspiron 15 3521 Touch Screen not working

Hi,

I bought the above new laptop, everything says it has touch screen, such as on the box, the sticker on the laptop, the service tag info and even on MyDell application but on the actual laptop the touch screen doesn't work and under the PC Info there is no Pen and Touch Display, also when I click on the Pen and touch under the system tools in MyDell App I get a message saying Tablet and Pen  Settings is unavailable.

According to my service tag my laptop's warranty is still valid till next year, could someone from Dell help me please?

Thank you

No, I bought it from eBay (Factory Refurbished) and your website shows the warranty still valid till next year.

the operating system is windows 8, it is factory installed but when it arrived I had the (Media Check:Fail) error, therefore I used the factory restore option.

Was the system  purchased direct from Dell?

What OS is on the system?  Did you install it or is it a factory-installed OS?

First thing to do is clear up the ownership with the seller - until you do that, you have no warranty with Dell (ONLY the registered owner is covered - not subsequent buyers -- until a transfer of ownership is completed).

You should also ask the seller about the issue - when you buy refurb'd, anything can happen to the system -- even a screen replacement could have been done.  Does the screen have a  glass cover over it, or is it just a conventional LCD?

The Screen is a conventional lcd, I understand the refurbished condition rules but the seller won't be as much help as you here because he lacks  your technical expertise, the laptop is functioning properly, it is just I'm wondering if I need to reinstall a software, driver or enable option?

Thank you for your follow up, my apologies, I misunderstood you, it does have a glass on it like the one in the first link you mentioned above (the parts-people.com link),I can't contact the seller because I already had a problem with him regarding something else and I know he won't be helpful,  I'm sure that it is not a hardware issue, are there any software related issue you might think that causes the problem?

If it's a conventional LCD (no glass over the screen), it's not a touchscreen.  Wherever the system was refurbished, the screen must have been replaced along the way.

If that's not what you intended to purchase, contact the seller for a refund or replacement of the system.

This is what a touchscreen will look like:

A conventional LCD won't have the cover glass:
