Dell Latitude 3540 wont power on

Hi,

I have got a Dell Latitude 3540 laptop and it wont power up, nothing happens when you press the power button. I have tried changing the battery, using another AC adapter and even tried the removing all power and pressing the power button for 30 seconds before trying again and still it wont power up. Are there any ideas of what I can try next before I go down the route of taking it to a specialist, my daughter has got loads of pictures on it so I could do with getting it running even if its just to take a backup.

Any help would be appreciated.

When powering on the system, do you see any lights? Do you hear a series of beeps ?

No, nothing at all. It is as if the laptop is completely dead. There is no noise and nothing on the screen.

Verify that the LED on the AC adapter is ON before you plug in the notebook end.  If it's not, replace it.

Unplug the system, remove the battery or disconnect it and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Remove and reinstall the memory module(s). Try powering on with AC only (no battery).  If it will but won't with the battery installed, the battery is bad;  replace it.

If you still get nothing, to back up your files, remove the hard drive, connect it to a working system by USB (external drive case or USB to SATA cable) and copy the files to the working system.

If you can't get the system going after doing the above, the mainboard is bad and will need to be replaced.
