Dell Latitude D830 Re-boot problems

When I re-boote my laptop, it freezes during the start-up and after 15 minutes completes the start-up. As a matter of fact, if I click on 'START' and then click on anything in the 'Settings' menu, even the system time freezes! After 15 minutes, something wakes up the computer, and it initializes the network settings. I have defined a LAN  Network for when I am 'docked', and a wireless connection for when I am not docked.

This problem started when I installed a Lexmark X7675 All-in-One printer. If I un-install the Lexmark software it reboots fine. Unfortunately, Lexmark Technical suspport has not been able to correct this problem.

This problem is driving me crazy, so any input/suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated!

I've been having the same issue on my E1705 laptop & X7675.  What a nightmare just to figure out my problems were linked to the printer!

A brief google search yielded others with the same problem.  The solution is supposedly this patch that you can apply (in safe mode, if you can't load up xp normally)..

Here's the link:

I'm about to try it out now ..  after a few more deep breaths, or a cigarette, or horse tranquilizer...

I apologies for not updating this incident! After several discussions with Lexmark technical support, I did find a 'patch' from Lexmark that corrected this problem. Here is the link to the patch: http://support.lexmark.com/perl/support/support.cgi?relevance=1&ccs=229:1:0:111:0:0&mode=DOCS&doctype=KB&term=slow&docid=ENUS32208
