I have a Dell Latitude E6510 with Windows 7 Professional OS. Recently with MY DELL PC CheckUP and error report came back to me that said the following, but I'm not understanding if this is a true issue as I haven't been experiencing any issues. Also, can this be fixed or do I in fact need to purchase a new HDD:

The drive has developed bad sectors - back up immediately and replace the drive ASAP.

Hey Mvetri,
If your version of Norton supports backup you can use that route but Windows backup is also an option.

I wanted to add that when I did a Pre-Boot Assessment I got:
Error Code: 0146
Message Error Code: 2000-0146
I took the following picture of the error on the screen regarding the HDD.

Thanks for the reply. II have a 500 gig external drive. What is the best way to back up the whole system? Via Norton Antivirus or Windows backup?

Thanks for the reply,
As I review option to replace my HDD, I realized I don't have discs that came with my Dell Latitude when I purchased it of the OS. I know I can download the drivers from Dell. com, but what about the OS. Where can I get those disks or better yet how can I back those up?

If the original drive is still working and the recovery image is intact, you can use the Dell Backup and Recovery utility to make a set of recovery media. Easiest way is with a 16G or larger flash drive, but you can also use DVD-R or DVD+R discs (but not rewriteable discs).
