Dell Mini 12 Hard Drive R237954 Driver Install Catastrophic Failure

I own a Dell Mini 12 with Samsung Hard Drive HS04THB.  I attempted to install, per instructions, using CD the recommended driver and got "internal error occurred" message.  Now the computer does not recognized a hard drive as being installed.

1)  In need to reimstall firmware for hard drive;  or

2)  reinstall bios if the above driver modified the bios, etc.

All help is appreciated.

Remove and reinstall the drive.  If that does get it recognized by the system, press F12 at powerup and run a full diagnostic on it.  If it doesn't, the drive is toast - replace it with a new one.

Removal and reinstall of the drive did not help.

I get the following message upon boot up

"For Realtek RTL8101E/8102E PCI-E Ethernet Controller v.1.08 (080408)

PXE-E61:  Media test failure.  check cable

PXE_M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.

Operating system not found."

My thought is there has to be a way to reinstall firmware on hard drive.

Daignostics gives the same message, over and over
