Dell Precision m6700 screen white

I recently bought a used laptop and when it powers on, the screen goes white and does not display anything. I connected an external monitor and it shows fine. I connected to the dell support website and did the detect my unit, which was correct then i ran the full diagnostic tests on the unit and everything, even the Nvidia km3000 2gb video card passed. does this mean that the lcd is bad? or is there a setting in the bios that can be changed? Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

thank you

ok,

I did an update of all the dell drivers that were available for this unit. and did all the diagnostic tests as well. now the screen is no longer white, now it is black. I can still use the attached monitor but I get no display from the laptop. Any Ideas?

thank you

Hi tfmc369,

Holding down the "D" key whilst powering the system on should give an indication if the LCD itself is ok or not (the screen should cycle through different colours)

If it stays blank the LCD is faulty.
