Hi jjvan,

Welcome to the Community.

In order to get the problem resolved for the Dell start page I would suggest you to try to reset the internet explorer settings. Delete the temporary files and restart the computer. Try opening internet explorer again and you can set dell start page as your home page.

If you have any more queries please reply.

Thanks and Regards.

Hi,

As of today, Sept. 2, 2012, I am also having problem "editing" the gadgets, on the Dell Start Page.  I use to be able to select and move the gadgets, on the page, but I can no longer do that.  I tried your solution above, but it did not help.

Any other suggestions?

Many thanx,

Hi,

To assist you better please do let me know if you are using internet explorer to browse the internet.

As you have already mentioned that you tried resetting and deleting the temporary files, would suggest you to try using a different browser like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.

Please reply if you have any further questions.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

Thanx so much, for your
assistance.  Sorry I didn’t supply enough info., the first time.
Here is more info.:

OS:
Wins. 7

Browser
of Choice (We prefer IE and don’t wish to change.):  IE 9

Dell
Start Page, for IE:

  1. 1.     It has worked for the past couple of years; it may dump
the page’s contents every so often, but it has never acted like is now—unable
to select the inserted gadget, move and place it on the page.  Is there a
“fix” for this, or is the Dell Start page no longer working?
  2. 2.     Can you recommend another IE browser “start page” that
works similarly to the Dell Start page?

Again, thank you very much
for all your assistance, w/this problem,

Hi,

Please let me know if you are unable to drag the gadgets for weather, games and so on. If you are facing this problem recently, I would recommend you to do a system restore.

Please follow the steps below to do system restore:
1.Click on Start then Control Panel.
2. Select System and Security.
3. Click System and System Protection.
5. You will see the System Restore screen.
6. Click Next.
7. Put a check on Show more restore points.
8. Click to select a restore point.
9. Click Next ,Finish and Yes.

Once the system restore is complete, the computer restarts. Try to use the Dell start page and check if the problem is still there.

If you are still facing the same issue, would recommend you to uninstall ie9 and use e8.
1. Click Start type Programs and Features in the search box and click View installed updates.
2. Do a right-click on Windows Internet Explorer 9 and click Uninstall.
3. Once uninstallation is complete restart the system.
4. Go to Dell start page and check if the problem still persists.

Please reply for further assistance.

Thanks and Regards

I am also having the same issues and tried everything suggested above, it looks like the other person just gave up because nothing Dell suggested worked. So I will ask again "How do you move gaget on the Dell Start Page"? We use to be able to just drag them anywhere on the page has Dell broken it or removed this option during an update?
