Dell Studio 15 remote...

Hi all,

   I just bought this remote for my Laptop from eBay. I asked Dell before I purchased the remote & they told me then that it would work. My laptop does not recognize it &  when I talked to Dell again they told me that it is not compattible. Does anyone know what I can do, is there a driver that I might need to install or something, someone please let me know...
