Dell Studio 1537 not booting after firmware update
Hello! I have a Dell Studio 1537 laptop which I purchased for my stepson a few years ago. He's been having problems with the CD/DVD constantly trying
to eject phantom disks. I read that this is due to firmware issues that required an update. I downloaded the last update for this, and attempted to do this
via windows. When I ran the application, the system seized, and the fan turned on high speed. I then waited a few minutes for something to happen, but
after nothing did, I was forced to shut the laptop down, and remove the power and battery.
Now the laptop will not boot. What can I do to resolve this?

If this was a system BIOS update that failed, you have two options:
Find a shop that can unsolder the BIOS chip, flash it externally and resolder it (cost ($150 or so), or
Replace the system board (with labor and part, $300+).
