Dell Studio 1555 : Shuts down/Power Off Automatically
I know there are threads relating to same problem, but none of those give a solution to my problem. I have 15" Dell Studio 1555, from past few months, my laptop suddenly gets switched off without any error. I am able to power it on immediately after the shut down. Shut down means it just gets power off, as in there is no power supply. Just goes.
This always happen when I play games, play a movie (normally in fullscreen) and sometimes while browsing, opening folders or anything. Strange thing is that laptop if left unattended, runs for hours n hours at one go.
I checked for CPU temperature, it varies from 45-55 degrees. The fan is running fine too. It keeps blowing hot air. Tried running memtest86 for any memory issue, but the test completed successfully with no error.
I dont know what to do next, change of power suppply? change of fan? change of thermal paste?
P.S. Battery of laptop is left with no backup. It normally discharges in 5 mins. If that is some additional info for you all.

Hi Nishant,
Please try the below mentioned steps to isolate the issue:
1. Update BIOS to the latest version available on the support site.
2. Update the video card drivers.
3. If you have more than 1 antivirus software installed, remove one.
4. Check in Power Options if any of the settings are enabled to set the system to turn itself off after a specific time.
5. Disconnect any external devices if they are plugged in to the laptop to replicate the issue.
6. Check if the system works fine only with the power adapter/charger (without battery)
Now that the hardware diagnostics did not come up with any errors, it may also be a software issue. If you have all the data backed up, I'd suggest you to re-install the operating system.

Reinstalled windows 7.. no use.. the PC still shuts down. I had installed hwinfo32 which created a log file of all activity till laptop got shut down. Here is the file:

Sorry about the late reply. Is the system under warranty? I'd suggest you to send in the laptop to depot so that the depot technicians can thoroughly check and replace the required parts. Also check if the system works fine with a single memory module.

Hi there. same issue here, same system studio 1555.
so how it goes? mind to share the solutions?
bcause i think, its a power issues. maybe for grphic processors, or the lcd power. insufficient power. help us here dell.

can u do the detail about these issue. i am also a techie, so i need detail and confirmation on what is going wrong with the issues. is it a mboard? or power supply? or graphic card? or the adapter? or the ic's? let put things clear. thank u.
