Dell System Software Utility

After a clean Windows 7 install on my inspiron 1545 I downloaded and installed the dell system software utility as recommended by Dell. Actually thats just my wishful thinking lol. The installer has been running for 205 minutes and counting as of this post and now I'm stuck. I this normal? The installer warns me not to stop this process. So my question is is it normal for this process to go on for so long and what would you do if you were in my shoes.
