Dell Vostro 1520 Black Screen
I have to use the laptop with a monitor connected via VGA. You can just about make out the login box on the laptop screen but it is just black.
Not sure if its the Screen, or inverter etc but the odd thing is that when i close the lid, (the power settings are set to hibernation), and re open it, the laptop screen comes back to life for a couple of seconds before going black again.

I think this is something to do with the reed switch that trns off the screen when you sht the lid
