Dell Vostro 1700 Motherboard
Hello
The motherboard has a cable broken or burnt somewhere near the HDD, so it can't detect it anymore, so I want to get a new one as repairing it would cost at least £100!
What's the part number/code? I think it is HX766 but some are selling it using code UK435 or 0UK435...so is it a different motherboard or same?
Cheers,

HX766 is one of the part numbers for a non-integrated (i.e., has a discrete video card) board.

There will be many other part numbers -- yours will start with DP/N or CN ... and be on the board somewhere near the memory sockets.
Be sure your board has a video card - the other style does not, and requires some other hardware (particularly the heatsink assembly)

Okay, I check out my motherboard part number later.
So, the version without the video card cannot be used with the hardware that I take off my old motherboard? For example this one:

and this:
www.birminghamitnow.co.uk/index.php
In fact I think all of those I have seen have been without a graphics card, only one had integrated Intel!

Okay, checked out my motherboard part number and it's pretty long: CN-0HX766-48643-798-4139. It does include HX766, so I assume those ones, which say the part number is HX766 are good for my laptop.
But what about the one, which is sold as 0UK435 and the seller told that it's for both, Inspiron 1720 and Vostro 1700 (like this: www.ebay.co.uk/.../390398963828). Is it essentially the same and just with a different part number or something?

Good, so that should work out for me then.

The Inspiron 1720 and Vostro 1700 are the same system inside - just cosmetically different on the outside.
