Dell XPS M1710

I lost the display.  Have been able to connect a monitor to the laptop and is currently working, but only in safe mode networking.  I have updated the display drivers and now using VGA.  No luck when restarting the system.  I have a weird blue polka dot background color.  Also have aa'' all over the desktop when loading.  Have not downloaded anything new in over a month, just continual regular use.  Was working then just lost video.

  Am currently on the computer now.  I am open to any suggestions.
