Dell XPS15 L502x: VGA beamer connection?

Hi guys,

I have a Dell XPS15 L502x laptop and I will be giving more and more powerpoint presentations at university from now on.
Only problem is that the university uses standard VGA-cables to hook up your laptop to the installed beamers. However, my XPS doesn't have a VGA port.

What's the best solution to still be able to use my laptop to give presentations with the beamers at school?
Via the HDMI port or the miniDisplay port? How does that work?

I found some info about the miniDisplay port that it's also used on Macbooks to connect with VGA cables, via some kind of Apple adapter. Is that the only solution?

Regards,
Jurgen

Hi,

Welcome to the community.

You can use your HDMI port as an alternative. It also works the same like a VGA. Connect the HDMI cable to your computer and the other end to your device. (Projector/Beamer should support HDMI port) Then Press FN+F1 to toggle video.

Also another option is to use your minidisplay port. There is a special cable that can convert minidisplay to VGA. See this link please ; http://dell.to/HMe5cA
