Dell xps L502x battery manufactured with date 2014 will have same capacity in 2017 or does it loose some power holding capacity

I am going to buy  new battery for my Dell xps  L502x early 2011 15 inch laptop  which came with 6 cell battery.

I want to know if dell supports 9 cell battery in my laptop

And should I buy batteries manufactured in 2014

Does dell stoped  manufacturing the battery for this model.  I would prefer 2016  manufactured battery

Hi JAYESH GHARAT,

The 502x supports both 6cell and 9cell batteries. Kindly find the specifications here - http://dell.to/2iVELAQ- see page# 98.

The 502x is considered obsolete and I am not sure if the batteries are available with Dell any longer.

You could contact our team to get a quote for a battery if available - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

You could alternatively order the parts here - http://bit.ly/2jgRfQ6 or through other 3rd party online stores or local stores.

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

A battery with a two- to three-year old manufacture data won't give you maximum runtime or lifespan.  Lithium cells suffer from age as much as from use.

There are 9-cell batteries for this model.  Bear in mind they're larger than 6-cell and will extend beyond the notebook's casing whereas the 6-cell batteries fit entirely inside the system.
