Display of VOSTRO 1500 dims when charger plugged-in
The Display of VOSTRO 1500 dims (almost blacks out) when the charger is plugged-in. I can make out the outline of the opened winodws, but nothing is readable. \However, when I restart the Laptop after removing the charger, the screen is bright and readable.
Does anybody have any solution?

Could be a bad inverter (small board behind the screen) or bad mainboard. The inverter should be well under $50 (remove the display panel and locate the inverter - search for a replacement by part number; they're not interchangeable between screens).
If the inverter replacement doesn't fix the problem, you're in for a new mainboard (think $400+).

Dear ejn63
Thanks for your reply. But this is the same info I'd found when I'd googled about my problem.
I think that if it were a case of a bad inverter, why would the laptop work normally when the charger is NOT plugged-in.

I tend to agree, but it has happend that it was a faulty inverter - and for under $50 it's worth a shot before you fork over $400+ or recycle and replace the system entirely.
