E7440 Docked Display Problem

We bought 4 E7440s to test before replacing E6410s. When the machine is docked, and a pre boot password is enabled, the external monitor will not display until the lid is opened on the machine. Without a pre boot password enabled, the monitor will display, but not until just before the logon screen in windows 8.1. I have tested with vga, dvi, and displayport-dvi cables plugged into multiple acer and dell monitors with the same results. I have flashed the newest Synaptics VMM2320 MST HUB Firmware version 2.15. One of the laptops showed the Dell post logo over DVI one time, but nothing since.
