Error when connecting to the AT&T network using 5540 HSPA mini-card

When I try to connect to my AT&T service using my Studio XPS laptop I receive the following error.

connection failed

The mobile broadband network connection operation (context activation) failed with error code 1

It previously had been working. Any suggestions to get it to work will be appreciated.

You may need to reactivate the connection

How to Activate

  • Open Dell Control Point.
  • Click Connection Manager.
  • Click Connections.
  • Click Connection Status.
  • Select Mobile Broadband as the connection type
  • You will see an activate button. Click the activate button

The Dell control point connection manager will have info on your account if it is activated. Call Dell's toll-free activation service at 1-800-228-6303.

Here are the contact numbers for ATNT

To Activate:
Call 1-800-228-6303

For Additional Support:
Call 1-800-331-0500

Since the card has worked before you may well be activated, at this point if you have not already done so I would contact ATNT and verify your account status.  I would also check the simm card and make sure that it is connected correctly.  Let me know if you still have problems after checking.
