External display connector for Dell Vostro 5470
Hi
I own a Dell Vostro 5470 and i want to connect my laptop to external monitor, since this model doesn't have VGA port, its difficult to connect to external monitor. I bought a USB-VGA adpter, but when i close the laptop lid, laptop goes to sleep. Is there any Dell docking station for these kind of models ?.

USB is not video. You need to use the hdmi or display port on the vostro. VGA is old tech now. Laptops have hdmi or display ports now. You need a monitor with hdmi or dvi connections. The computer has hdmi so you need an hdmi or hdmi to dvi cable to connect to a monitor that has hdmi or dvi.
