Fingerprint Reader Not Detected
I have a Dell Vostro 3700, with Windows 7.
All of a sudden the "Fingerprint Reader Is Not Detected"
I have reinstalled the driver (Downloaded from Dell.com), reinstalled the Digital Persona Software, and still NOTHING!
Please help! :emotion-18:

TarynG_ZA,
Did you try uninstalling DigitalPersona in programs and features, then restart your computer?
Tyr installing DidgitalPersona using the disk. If no disk was provided, then go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number. Then look under security. It may say something like...
Authentec AES2810 (Fingerprint Reader W7 64-bit) This is the DigitalPersona Fingerprint software.

I have exactly the same problem with Dell Vostro and Win 7. It used to work, now it doesn't. So it must be a Win 7 update that rendered it useless. If you find a solution, let me know.

mgrantaz,
Thank you for contacting DigitalPersona. There will be no update releases for DigitalPersona Personal in the future. There will be no updates for Firefox 4 nor Internet Explorer 9. IF they work they work, if they do not work with DPPersonal, then you will have to decide to either keep DPPersonal and forgo Firefox 4 or IE 9, or vice versa. DigitalPersona is leaving the consumer market and is focusing on business applications. In fact, DigitalPersona Personal will not longer be supported after Mid-April of this year. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. Sincerely, Tech Team
Exists an add-on called "Fingerfox (SE)", the latest version and 'the 2.20.2. This Add-on in conjunction with "DigitalPersona Personal" solves the problem. In firefox you must disable "DigitalPersona Extension" (I had version 5.0.0.3790 that worked with Firefox 3.6 but not with 4). Install "Fingerfox (SE)". When you go on a site where and 'have a login, click on the icon at the bottom right, it will open' the pop-up "Fingerfox (SE)". At this point, DO NOT FILL THE CREDENTIALS IN POPUP, but rubbing your finger to your fingerprint, it will open 'utility DigitalPersona Personal. Enter the credentials in Personal and DigitalPersona will 'to deal with this transfer credential to "Fingerfox (SE)".

AuthenTec and UPEK Announce Merger - MarketWatch.com
Welcome To UPEK - Support - Downloads
Download common Windows drivers for UPEK fingerprint sensors (for TouchChip/TouchStrip fingerprint coprocessor/sensor/reader)
There are two driver packages, a common package and a package for users of the Windows Biometric Framework (WBF). For a description of the differences please read this.
Attention: This driver is to be used with Protector Suite QL (5.2-5.8) or with common version of Protector Suite 2009!

It just started working again, about 3 or 4 days ago. No idea, didn't change anything. Just started working.... very odd.

I had the same issue.. But I've cracked it.. Hurray!!
When you install the digitalPersona software an x86 setup will be installed if you click the 'setup.exe' in the autorun menu.
even though you're on an x64 platform. So choose the 'Open folders to view files' as below during autorun go to the 'x64' folder
and then run the 'setup.exe'. Done ! :emotion-11:
