Hi,

I am still looking into this issue. However, you can uninstall all existing applications regarding fingerprint reader and then install 'Dell Dell Data Protection | Access' from link: http://dell.to/Yc7aSr and see if it works.

Steps to download drivers:-

  • Click 'Download file' to download the list to a folder you will designate.
  • Click 'Save'. Then designate the folder you would like to save the files to.
  • Once you have designated the folder you would like to save your files to, Click 'OK'.
  • Selected downloads will automatically start downloading. Next is Installation.
  • To start installation, Click Open folder. Right-click a downloaded file and select the option to ‘Run as administrator’.
  • A small window will appear with 'Continue' and 'Exit' buttons, click 'Continue'.
  • In the Select the folder where you want to unzip the files to window, click OK.
  • If a message appears asking to create a folder, click 'Yes'. If a message appears asking to overwrite the folder, click 'Yes to All'.
  • In the All files were successfully unzipped window, click OK.
  • A new window will appear, follow the prompts that appear to finish the installation.
  • Restart your computer.

Please reply with the findings.

Same problem on Dell E6510, using WBF driver under Win8 x64. Anyway I have dual boot to Win7 x64 where DELL fingerprint SW works. Please let me know when you find solution. Thank you.

Thanks for your help so far Chinmay. But as the readme file says

"IF YOU HAVE A 64 BIT OPERATING SYSTEM YOU MUST NOT INSTALL THIS PACKAGE.

VISIT http://support.dell.com/ to obtain the 64 bit version of this software."

Do you know if there is a 64 BIt package - for e6410 Windows 8 64?

Many thanks

Hey,

I found the 64bit version - www.dell.com/.../latitude-e5520

But when I try to install the software, windows blocks the installation. Because of compatibility problems.

I confirm, I downloaded the same version  2.2.00003.009, A06 (but published on 11/20/2012 - see www.dell.com/.../DriverDetails). Installation of package failed. I tried to use drivers within the package, but the result is the fingerprint is not visible to Win8 anymore. I think this is due to conflict between WBF and Dell drivers.

Thanks for that Alexander.

It looks like the right file from the compatability notes, but will not install for me on E6410 Win 8 64 Bit.

Where the installation grinds to a halt, the log reads:

" [11/28/12 09:48:41] Append Vendor Software Log: C:\Users\********\AppData\Local\dell\drivers\DDP_Application_TDC1K_WN_2.2.00003.009_A06\DUP9633.tmp

[11/28/12 09:48:41] Vendor Software Return Code: 3221226505

[11/28/12 09:48:42]

[11/28/12 09:48:42] (MUPXMLParser::GetResultName): *** Vendor Return Code is not found in Mup.xml "

[11/28/12 09:48:42] Name of Exit Code:

[11/28/12 09:48:42] (DupAPI::GetReturnCode): *** Unable to find DUP value for:

[11/28/12 09:48:42] Exit Code set to: 1 (0x1)

[11/28/12 09:48:42] Result: FAILURE

This leaves me not a lot wiser.

But perhaps one step forward.....?

Now managed to install from ZIP file, but Control panel Biometric Devices says "The selected fingerprint reader has no management application installed".

Hello Chinmay, I'd like to get informed, too. Please keep me also up to date on this issue.

Hi,

I am still looking into this issue. Ideally the 'Data Protection | Access' should work on computer in case of fingerprint reader. In case you have Dell resource dvd (driver's disc). You can try installing it from that following the instructions from the link: http://dell.to/V9labi (For Latitude E3 series, others can give a try).

Hi Chinmay - I am too having this problem on a Latitude E6230 running Windows 8 Enterprise. The Broadcom Fingerprint software is not storing the fingerprints within the Windows fingerprint database. Can you please let me know when there will be a fix for this?

Did you try

http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER92265M/1/DELL_CONTROLPOINT-CONNECTION_A18-2339_R253886.exe

There are reinstall guides for most of the Precision and Latitude systems.  The reimage guide for the M6500 may be downloaded from the following link.

Many thanks Speedstep, but the installation says it is not compatible with the processor in my E6410 (i7 M640 2.80GHz)

Hi Speedstep - I installed the controlpoint software - no difference at all. The fingerprints are still not being stored and they will not enroll with the windows user account.
