General BIOS Password Assistance
Please disregard this message. I was able to get this information and the BIOS passwords do not provide the security we are looking for. If anyone has this same issue I'll be happy to share the info with you.
We have various models of Inspirons that I would like to secure with BIOS passwords. I will do the setups and I'm aware that BIOS versions are different (and need to be current). Is there a general document explaining the different passwords and best practice for their use? What's the difference in the three BIOS passwords relative to security? Do they have the same function on all laptops? I want to have a firm policy and start using these for our folks working out in the field but want to do it correctly. I'm also aware that "forgotten" passwords must give proof of ownership to Dell for reset. For us this is a good thing and provides complete security. Any assistance appreciated.
