Got my new 8600 today: my WSXGA+ screen is "Seiko Epson"

Yep... not Hitachi, not Samsung... but Seiko Epson. Quality is very good. I also have a 8500 with Hitachi screen to compare to, and I can tell you that the Epson screen is much better. Brighter, no blur effect when you scroll web pages etc...

Sorry but I don't want to disappoint you... You probably use Sisoftware Sandra to identify your screen manufacturer, but it is buggy to recognize the Samsung screen.

SE is for Samsung Electronics, not Seiko Epson...

So you have a Samsung screen.

Hey!

How did you find this info? Is there an other program I could use, (not SisoftSandra)?

Thanks for the input Wizard... I'm glad I have something different than the Hitachi screen, Samsung is even better.

And yes, I used Sandra SP1 to get the information.

The best way to check the manufacturer of the screen is to go to the Dell Support Site, and enter your service tag, then click "system configuration" and then click "system as shipped". Here you will be able to see the manufacutrer of the screen. Sometimes, the screen manufacturer is also mentioned in the packing slip.
