Headphones/Speakers Not Working

Hi,

I've got a strange problem.  I had my headphones plugged into my Inspiron 1545 and somehow the tip of the headphone wire got broken off and is now lodged in outlet  I've tried with another speaker, but the plug won't go in all the way, like something is blocking it.

My question is:  Has this ever happened to anyone else?  Or does anyone know how to fix it without tearing the laptop apart?

Any and all suggestions will be very appreciated!!!

It's a delicate process as the back of the jack is probably closed (is on most models).  You will have to try and get something in the jack that can get the tip out.  As I mentioned most of the jacks are closed in the back so trying to push it out from the rear is not possible on many models.

Have you tried a magnet?  or small long nose pliers.
