How to connect xps 13 9550 to external monitor or projector with HDMI
Anybody know?
I bought a USB 3.1 Type C Male to HDMI Female Micro USB 1080P Adapter Cable but it didn't work - nothing on the display in my Dell U3415W monitor, nothing on my projector either (windows 10 doesn't detect an external monitor). Anybody got any ideas?

Apparently no all USB 3.1 Typce C cable is compliant. There's a guy on Amazon who works for Google whose reviews you should find.

Can you be more specific?

Can you be more specific? "There's a guy on Amazon who works for Google whose reviews you should find." is not very helpful

Does a straight HDMI to HDMI connection work?

There's no HDMI port on the XPS 13 9350

Sorry. I did not see the little note on the Spec sheet that said that was part of the new multi-port adapter that has not been released yet. I have the XPS-15 which does include an HDMI port. There was a firmware and driver update for the Thunderbolt port on the XPS-15. You might want to check and see if it is also available for yours. I have not found a way of determining what versions I have as I do not have a Thunderbolt device to connect to and it does not show in Device Manager even when configured to show hidden devices since it has not installed the driver. See if you can determine the driver version you have.

Thanks, are you suggesting these because you know for sure that they work?
(The Club 3D :: USB 3.1 Type-C to HDMI™ 2.0 4K60Hz UHD Active Adapter isn't available in the UK)

this is tested and used -- if the comments are true.

I recently purchased the XPS 13 9350. I want to use my desktop monitor. I purchased a MiniDisplayPort to HDMI (female) adaptor. I can't seem to fit the type C cable into the laptop. It doesn't fit any ports on the laptop. It is a Type C male plug. Confused!!!
Can anyone help?

The thunderbolt port is the one right next to the power input on the left side of the system.
