How to reset BIOS password?
Hi Friends,
I have a DELL inspiron 15 (N5010) laptop. Few days back I set BIOS password. Unexpectedly I forgot the password. While going to BIOS, my laptop is asking for password. I tried many times but unable to enter correct password. Can any one please tell me how to proceed further for resetting the password?
Thanks in advance...

I have the identical same problem, My computer same model as yours, requests a password, and I have never set up a password screen. I talked to tech support, they told me to format the entire hard drive!!!!! I lost all my data stored on the hard drive. 2 HOURS later, I was disconnected from the tech support group. I turned on the computer, and again, the same screen came up requesting a password. I called tech support for the 3rd time, waited 17 minutes, and told to reformat the hard drive again!!!!!. DA. I then called customer care for help, they are dummer than a box of rocks!!! told me to call tech support and wait on hold for as long as it takes to get help. I requested a replacement computer as mine is 60 days old, was told, 30- days is the max, no help. Now have a 65 day old Dell Inspiron 15 series 7537 that is useless. I spent $1280 for this computer and Dell tells me to go pound sand!!!!

The password is stored in a flash EEPROM on the motherboard, both the motherboard and hard drive, should be replaced.
Best to post this in the Customer Care Forum, here:

The only way to have this remedied, is to call Dell, pay the service charge and prove ownership to obtain an override password.
The password is stored in a flash EEPROM on the motherboard, you could replace both the motherboard and hard drive.

Hello.
I just purchased a used Dell XPS 12 Convertible. Unfortunately It has a BIOS password.
What can I do to remove this? I'd rather not pay $60, or replace the motherboard...
Thanks.

No one here can help - you need to place a call to Dell support.
