Inspiron 1000 won't power on
I've got an Inspiron 1000, purchased in 2005. It will no longer power on. I've tried these combos:
Battery in, No AC- Restart Device Status light & all 4 keyboard status lights flash once.
Battery Out, AC - Restart Device Status light & all 4 keyboard status lights flash once
Battery In, + AC - Restart Device Status light & Hard Disk status light flash once.
The battery is about 6 months old.
The green light on the AC adaptor stays on steadily. I tested the end with a multimeter, and get 19V DC.
Based on all that, I'm guessing a power regulator problem inside the laptop, but I'd welcome ideas.
Thanks,
Mark

Try reseating the memory module(s). If that does nothing, you're probably better off replacing the system - it's not worth putting several hundred dollars into it (replacement mainboard).

ejn63-
This is going to sound like an idiot's question, but-
I opened the memory panel on the back of the unit to check this, and both slots are empty!
Is there default system memory on the motherboard?

Yes, there is - the base 256M is soldered to the mainboard.

Well, it's not the memory then. I'll have to the user it's probably
on the motherboard. Thanks for the help.
