Inspiron 1420 SD Card Reader

My Inspiron 1420 arrived yesterday, and I took out the placeholder SD card to see what it looked like. When I tried putting it back in, it got jammed in the reader and I needed pliers to get it out.

I can put cards in, and while they 'click in', they don't stay locked in place. I can remove them from the reader by simply pulling them out when they're in the 'locked' position, whereas most card readers require you to push the card in first.

Is this normal for the 1420's card reader, or is mine ruined?
