Inspiron 14R SE 7420 - SSD Upgrade

Hi there,

I wish to add a SSD to the Inspiron 14R SE 7420 that i bought few months back.

I see there's no spare bay for additional HDD/SSD, so i guess my options are:

1. Replace the existing 500GB HDD with a SSD

2. Replace the existing DVD drive with a bay for SSD then plug the SSD to the mSATA port that the DVD drive is using.

Can anybody kindly verify if these options are viable or there's better alternative?

Thanks.

You will not be able to boot the system from the SSD if you install it into a bay adapter - you will need to replace the hard drive with the SSD and move the existing hard drive to the adapter.
