Inspiron 14z. 3 beeps on powering on. No display. No POST
Hi!
I am using an Inspiron 14z running windows 8.1.
I tried upgrading to windows 10 last night. Clicked on the upgrade button and left my laptop plugged in.
After a while when I came back to check on it. My laptop was switched OFF.
I switched it ON. The lights turned ON the usual way. The fan was ON, but there was no display. I pressed the power button once and it turned OFF immediately.
Now, since today morning i tried turning it ON again. This time without any display, it started beeping. 3 short beeps, repeating.
A quick google search told me it was either a RAM issue or a motherboard issue.
I tried removing and re-inserting the RAM, with no change in results.
Please help.
Thank You

Hi,
How many RAM modules do you have in the laptop?
Can you try one at a time? 3 beeps indicates the memory isn't being read or a failure.
Thanks

Unplug the system, disconnect the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec. and then try powering up again. If you still get the three beep code, it's a mainboard failure (2 would be no memory/4 for memory read/write error). Three beeps is a system board failure.

I have the same problem as you do.
I did the exact same thing as you did and now I have a brick for a laptop.
Thanks microsoft & dell for the whole windows 10 QA'ing process! Good job on breaking the only laptop I have!
