Inspiron 1525 Soundblaster Advanced MB Audigy in XP - PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi,

I've spent a long time reading posts about how installing XP requires installation of drivers in a particular order. Well, after the 3rd install, i still can't get my upgraded Soundblaster audigy installation to work. The standard Sigmatel driver is working fine and i have no sound issues at all. However, i paid for the Sound Blaster upgrade for the 1525 and i can't get it to work. I've installed the Sound blaster software that came with the laptop, with an error message saying that there is no applicable device present and to install drivers. I've also tried a few different versions that people have suggested from the Creative labs site to no avail with a similar error message.

I have windows XP with SP3 so the Microsoft KB some people have suggested is already installed.

PLEASE HELP!! This is driving me batty. Has anybody successfully got this working? Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark and welcome to the forums.

You do not have SB drivers to install in your laptop because it does not come for it.

Unfortunately one of those things between Creative and DELL deals. To get more info read this:

What you can do is try a SB driver that is given to a laptop similar to the one you got ( AT YOUR OWN RISK ). I found this forum with a guy with a similar problem as yours. At the bottom someone offered him the driver. ( TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK ).

Also you may post at DELL´s Laptop Forums to see if someone has a solution. Sorry you are in it.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply IROC but that didn't seem to help. Tried downloading the various suggestions but neither package worked. Exactly the same error.

Thanks anyway

Mark

HI Iroc,

Yes, it came with Vista. I downgraded to XP because i'm not a huge fan of Vista.

I've tried the XP version of the software to no avail. :(

Thanks anyway for trying

mnd79.

One question? Did you have Vista in your 1525 and then downgraded to XP? Because if your Sound Blaster Adv. MB(software) CD was for Vista, it will not work for XP.

Otherwise I am stuck, there are plenty of reading about SB but really I was unable to find a solution. It must be something obvious about your laptop, a procedure, something in BIOS, etc. You must install your Sigma-tel Stac 92xx first and then the software(SB Adv. MB). It really should not have the need for drivers since it is a software, but since it is Creative and DELL, it has a driver available in Drivers & Download DELL´web page, go figures!. However, I went through several laptops, inspiron, Latituds, Vostros, and XPS In DELL´s Downloads & Drivers, and none that I saw came with SB.

Sorry I could not be more helpfull. If you find a solution. keep us posted. Thank you.

First uninstall SP3,then install the XP version of the software upgrade(from the XP version disk). Now re-install SP3 once sound blaster advanced is installed completely. If you have problems reinstalling SP3 then that could be the problem with the Sound blaster software.
