Inspiron 1750 screen replacement...O NO !
Had to replace the screen, ebayer told me it was compatable, but was lower resolution.
With the resolution set at its best selection, I only can see 2/3 of the desktop. I cannot see the bottom 1/3, hence no access to notifications area.
Is there any fix to this?

Ask the seller whether the screen is compatible with your system -- and if so, whether they'll sell you a compatible video cable.

The question that needs to be answered is does a different cable change the resolution?

It's not compatible if that's what you're seeing. If it's a lower resolution screen than what you had, you'd also need to replace the video cable -- did you?

It can, yes. Higher resolution screens generally need cables with a denser pin count (and vice-versa for lower resolution screens). However, your symptoms sound more like those of an incompatible screen.
