Inspiron 17R SATA 2 or 3?

So I am looking at potentially replacing my current hard drive with a new seagate SSHD drive. The new hard drive is a SATA 3 interface and I am not sure if my computer supports SATA 3 or not. I have a Dell Inspiron 17R N7110. Thanks!

Sata 3 SSD Hard drives are backwards compatible with Sata 2 interface, however you will only get Sata 2 speeds

Hi Ham Slice,

The Inspiron N7110 / 17R system uses Serial-ATA II (SATA II) hard drive. Please find more information from the below mentioned link.

There's no performance difference between SATA3G and SATA6G for conventional hard drive - only with an SSD will it make a difference.

So if I went ahead and got the new Hard drive would it still work even though it is SATA 3?
