Inspiron 5748 Driver's won't install

I am doing a clean reinstall of WIndows 7 on a Inspiron 5748 laptop.  Windows installed ok and I used another working computer to download all the recommended drivers for the 5748.

I found the instructions on correct install order and installed them but the two drivers that work the wifi and bluetooth will not install.. just give "install failed" message.

Everything else works on the laptop (I'm using it to post here with a wired LAN connection) but I have no wifi.

What can I do next?

these are the driver files that won't work:

Two things:  First, did you install the chipset driver?  Without that in place, other drivers won't load.

Second:  which network adapter do you have?  You've indicated trying to install two different drivers for two different cards.  If you're not sure, you can use the service tag number at support. dell.com to look up the original system configuration to find out.

there were four drivers that had "chipset" in their file names that I installed before the wifi drivers

"intel chipset driver"

"intel USB3.0 extensible host controller driver"

"intel management engine interface driver"

"realtek card reader driver"

the oroginal order for the computer mentions the 1705 wifi card.  So even though the Dell recommended drivers displayed both I was supposed to pick one?

If you have the 1705 card the 1704 card won't apply to you and vice versa.

What operating system and version -- and 32- or 64-bit -- is on the system?

neither would install, so what can I do next?

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1  64 bit - the OS originally installed when the unit shipped.

I started over, reinstalled windows, started working thru the driver install in the order specified by Dell.

Using the correct driver for the 1705 card, the install of the driver fails again.
