Inspiron 6000 HDD Compatability Question

I have an Inspiron 6000 and the disk drive went out I think...I kept getting an error message saying HDD not found, or something similar to that. I purchased a Seagate Momentus 500GB hard drive, but when I look at the connectors on the back of the old and new drives, they definitely look different. The new drive is a SATA drive.

Does anyone know if this drive is compatible with the computer, and would I need an adapter to connect the new drive or would it just plug in as-is?
