Inspiron 6000 audio, video and wireless problems

I just recently got my machine running again for the first time in a couple years, but I've got a few problems:

- no sound whatsoever

- CD/DVD drive wont read DVDs or DVD-Rs

- its not recognizing my internal wireless card

- drivers cannot be found for Ethernet Controller or Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Anybody got any tips? I'm stumped.

My specs: XP Home Edition, SP2, Pentium M 1.60GHz, 798 MHz, 256 MB of RAM

Thanks, Pat

EDIT: OK.  I get sound through my headphones, but nothing from the laptop speakers.  In Advanced Controls for Volume Control when I check "1 PC Spk Mute" it mutes everything, but when I mute "PC Speaker" in basic Volume Control it does nothing.  Also, SP3 is just about installed, so I guess just assume I'm running SP3 if you're reading this.  Thanks.

EDIT 2: I don't know why I didn't think of this to begin with.  I'm pretty sure I know why I'm not getting any sound from the speakers.  I broke the headphone output a while back (headphones were plugged in, my foot caught the cable as I walked by and ripped it out - now I have to rig the jack to get sound out of both ears and there's an annoying buzz all the time; i have done this to both my laptops, i use an external soundcard on the other), so I'm thinking my computer thinks the headphones are always plugged in and therefore not sending sound to the speakers.  Is there any way to tell my computer to only send audio to the speakers? I tried changing the Speaker Setup but that doesn't seem to be doing anything.

EDIT 3: this is what i'm supposed to have for my wireless internet: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection

here is my systemconfiguration straight from dell:

so i open up BIOS and what does it say under Device Info?:
MiniPCI Device = {none}
Bluetooth Device = {none}

so sure enough, i open up my machine and i have neither

but of course, 2 years ago, the last time i was able to get this thing to work, there sure as was some sort of internal wireless device...i didn't need a wireless card, the "wifi" light lit up and everything

who the steals MiniPCI/Bluetooth cards out of laptops?
