Inspiron 8100 - System hangs for a second, then resumes

Hello,

This one is a little hard to explain, but here goes. When I am typing, moving the mouse, moving a window, etc...the system will hang or studder for a split second. By that I mean the mouse will stop moving, then resume, or if I am typing, the words I am typing will stop appearing, and then suddenly "catch back up" to where I actually am.

I am running Windowns XP, and have a 1.13GHz PIII with 512 MB RAM. I tried a complete wipe and reinstall of Windows XP, but I still have the issue. I have tried turning off background programs, etc, but still can't find the issue.

Any help would be appreciated!
