Inspiron 8100 would not start up at ALL.

Good morning, I have this laptop for over 3 years now and it started failing on me.  One day when I went to power up the laptop, pressing the power button, wait and waited but nothing works.  The power and hardDrive light is on solid, but I didn't hear any beep like usual, the screen is black, and the system doesn't seems to power up because I didn't even hear the fans running as compare to usual.

I pulled out the HardDrive and power up, nothing works, the screen is black.

I pulled out the battery and power up with AC adapter and nothing works

I removed the floppy, DVD/CDRW, PCMCIA NIC and still nothing works.

I tried, taking apart the laptop and re-seated all the connections, then power-up, nothing works.

I notice on my home PC, that whether something fails or not I usually see the boot sequence, hear HD running, floppy drive seeking, and boot screen, but for the laptop, nothing at all..total complete silences.

Anyone have any good suggestions, this laptop is out of warannty already and 866Mhz is good enought for my needs, I don't wanna buy a new laptop.

Thanks, Jay.

umthich,

If your system will not power on try some or all of the following.

>Remove the ac adapter and the battery for two minutes then reconnect the ac adapter and try powering the system up.

>Remove the ac adapter, the battery, and the harddrive then put the harddrive back in and try it on ac power only.

>Try starting the system without the harddrive in the system.

>Remove hardware components one at a time and see if the system will start after that.

If the system will not power up with a certain hardware component install then that component may be faulty.

If the system will not power on no matter what, then the processor or motherboard may be faulty.
