Inspiron 9100 will not stay on

When power button is pressed, the power light, lights as well as the 3 lock buttons.  IThey stay light for about 7 seconds and then turn off.  The screen never lights up.  Any idea as to what is the problem, could it be the motherboard?  Dell replaced it once, immediately began to do same thing and they did something else to get it back but now it is doing again.

Try reseating both memory modules - remove and reinstall.  If that doesn't fix it, it likely is a faulty system board.

Thanks, I failed to say I had already tried that and it did not fix the problem.  Do you know if this is a recurring problem of the 9100?  Would not want to replace just to have the same problem again.  Thank you for your response.

If the board has failed, it's more likely due to just plain wearing out - this is an old system.  Any board you buy will be almost as old or older - so, if what you're asking is whether it's worth a $300-400 repair, I'd say no - replace, don't repair.

Thanks, guess I will give up and replace.
