Inspiron 9200 Battery Overheating

I am writing this just moments after I encountered this problem.  I have an Inspiron 9200 and just a few minutes ago, I noticed the charging light started to blink orange and green.  I then noticed that the surface of the computer above my right hand began to get hot.  I pulled the AC adapter out and picked the computer up and noticed that the battery was scorching hot (I couldn't hold my hand on it for more than a second).  I have since pulled the battery and am operating the computer on AC power.  This battery is not listed on the recall list.  Any idea what I should do with it?  It is not under warranty anymore.
