Inspiron N5010 Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)

Hi there, hope someone can please help. Got a new laptop today and have had it powered on now for a few hours but absolutely nothing is happening on screen, however the hard drive light is flickering away. Should it really take that long to start up for the first time?
