Inspiron XPS Gen2 - Tin Yellow Horizontal Line Appeared on Display ...?

Can anyone advise me ?

I have owned this 'Inspiron XPS Gen2' since new. Since yesterday, a thin yellow horizontal line has appeared more or less in the centre of the display running top to bottom. It appears as soon as the PC starts up when logging in. I have not downloaded anything recently that might cause this and have since used Dells PC health check service to download updates.

I welcome any advice on how to fix ?

Thanks.

Top to bottom would be vertical, not horizontal.  It's a known problem with these systems, and the panel needs replacement - Dell is covering these even out of warranty.

Hi ejn63,

many thanks for your advice.

I registered my issue with Dell and they have so far advised me to perform a BIOS safe mode check using an external monitor, which assumes I have an external monitor to hook up to my laptop ...I do not.

Anyway, thanks for your advice.

Regards,

I got rid of the horizontal yellow line by simply unsnapping the plastic bezel around the laptop screen removing it then placing it back on the laptop. The problem seemed to be around the bottom right corner of the screen near the hinge.  Hope this helps
