Inspiron n5110 external mic not working

So,I've seen countless posts about external mics. And none of them helped me in my quest to solve this really annoying problem.

The thing is,my mic sometimes works and sometimes not. I'm 100% sure that the mic itself is working perfectly since I tried it on another computers. But on my inspiron it just shows that it's on,however no recording is possible. Drivers are IDT audio with that annoying thing that pops up when I connect mic and asks me if I connected mic or line in. I tried everything,I have no idea what to do anymore to get it working normally.
